In this interactive educational session, participants will perform the role of the judge and sentence a real-life case of culpable driving causing death.
You will hear from the offender and the victim, and will learn the basics of sentencing law. You’ll ‘sentence’ the offender, then find out what sentence the judge imposed in the real-life case.
This 90-minute session will involve questions, discussion and tough decision-making.
While it deals with a serious offence, the content is not explicit. The subject matter and level of legal detail make it ideal for adults as well as for students from Year 9 and above.
Places are limited to allow for Q&A and discussion.
