Learn how human rights are protected and promoted in Victoria by the Victorian Ombudsman and the courts.
In this webinar, the Victorian Ombudsman, Deborah Glass, will discuss the Ombudsman’s role and powers to ‘promote fairness, integrity and respect for human rights’ by government in Victoria. The Ombudsman discusses some of the work she has undertaken to hold government accountable, focussing on her recent report about the Victorian Government’s ‘lockdown’ of the public housing towers as a response to COVID-19 in 2020.
The Honourable Marilyn Warren, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria, also discusses and compares the way in which human rights are protected and promoted in Victoria by the Ombudsman and the courts.
