The law agrees – there is nothing wrong with being LGBTIQ
LGBTIQ people are entitled to live true and authentic lives. Trying to change or hide someone’s sexual orientation or gender identity is deeply harmful. If you are experiencing this, learn what you can do and what your rights are.
The practices used to change or hide someone’s sexual orientation or gender identity are what is known as ‘change or suppression practices’. They are sometimes referred to as ‘gay conversion’ or ‘conversion therapy.’ This is now against the law.
Join us for a panel event hosted by Ro Allen, the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commissioner.
The panel will
- discuss why this new law was needed
- identify the practices that are now illegal
- shed light on how you can prevent or respond.
