Protestors rights – human rights and civil liberties in Victoria
This Law Institute of Victoria Free Public Webinar is intended to inform the public about the nature, scope, and limits of the rights held by people engaging in public protest activity.
It aims to do so by:
- Providing an overview of the rights held by protestors
- Outlining the scope of those rights and discussing their limitations in detail, including providing clear examples of lawful conduct and unlawful conduct
- Discussing what happens when the limits of those rights are exceed, including what happens when lawful protesting behaviour crosses the line into illegal behaviour
- Exploring what can be done when protestors rights are violated, including what happens when lawful protesting behaviour is unlawfully limited.
