Breaking the cycle of crime through drug and alcohol rehabilitation

The Drug Court, run by the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria, offers offenders trapped in the cycle of drug and alcohol dependency an opportunity to receive treatment and make positive changes to their lives. The court sentences participants to a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Order which includes intensive treatment and other supports under the close supervision of a magistrate. If they don’t comply, they risk jail time. The model strives to reduce reoffending and improve community safety. For the first time, the Drug Court will be available in regional areas this year, with its expansion to Ballarat and Shepparton.

Join Magistrate Suzie Cameron to learn how the court works as well as hearing from a Drug Court graduate who will provide a unique perspective on how the court is changing lives.
